OC woman elected to student position for physicians group

Allison Anne Eckert

Allison Anne Eckert of Oil City has been elected as a student director at large for the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants (PSPA).

Eckert, the daughter of Richard and Cynthia Eckert of Oil City and a 2006 graduate of Venango Catholic High School, is one of two students in the state nominated by their university faculties and chosen by the current members of the PSPA to serve on the PSPA board. She will attend all conferences along with the elected, certified physician assistants.

Eckert graduated summa cum laude this month from Gannon University in Erie with a Bachelor of Science degree in health science and as an associate honors scholar. She had a 4.0 grade point average every semester at Gannon, and she received the Founder's Day Academic Award for excellence in the physician assistant program.

She also received the Archbishop John Mark Gannon Award for general scholastic excellence. That award was given to just 12 graduates out of 758 in the Class of 2010.

While at Gannon, Eckert was a member of the National Honor Society and the Biology Honors Society. She also was a member of the honors program and its various community service projects, and she belonged to a faith sharing group.

Eckert is pursuing her master's degree in the physician assistant program at Gannon, and she will begin 60 weeks of rotations in July in the Oil City area, where she plans to begin her career after graduation.
