Vikings open with pair of victories
DuBOIS — Garrett Hawkins shot a 77 as Venango Catholic opened its season Wednesday with a pair of victories over DuBois Central Catholic and Elk County Catholic in a match held on the Silver Course at Treasure Lake.
Matt Kuhn added an 85 for coach Jim Hawkins' Vikings (2-0) while Ben Guth had a 90 and Ryan McMahon chipped in with a 102.
Elk County Catholic's Darren Simons, a Division I recruit, was the medalist with a 74.
