Lutz earns academic honors

Megan Lutz

Former Venango Catholic High School standout and John Carroll University junior Megan Lutz has been selected to the 2010-2011 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference women's cross country/track and field team.

Lutz, who was unable to compete in track due to injury, had a successful cross country campaign in the fall of 2010 which helped solidify her spot on the list. She was a consistent and outstanding performer for the Blue Streaks, placing seventh to help the team defend its title at the Walsh Jesuit Ric Sayre Invitational and placing 44th at the National Catholic Championships against a primarily NCAA Division I field.

She also ran a personal-best time in the six kilometers at the Great Lakes Regional Championships to lead the team to a top-20 finish.

Lutz, who made the Academic All-OAC team for the second straight year, is an English and adolescent-young adult education major with a 3.97 grade point average.
