Venango Catholic math team finishes third in competition

The Venango Catholic High School math team finished third among 15 teams in Clarion University's annual high school mathematics competition. VC seniors Jake Smith and Katherine Sockey placed fourth and seventh respectively among about 150 students from western Pennsylvania. The competition consisted of a 45-question test graded similar to the SAT test over a two-hour span. Team members pictured are (from left) Smith, Sockey, Ryan DeLaney, Claire Niederriter and Nick Barletta. Other team members who aren't pictured include Matt Kuhn, Luke Ziegler, Colleen Cunningham, Courtney Kuhn and Kristin McHenry. The math team is coached by Nancy Hoeft.
